Music to flow by the river

Goole Town Council are pleased to announce this year's line-up for their ever popular summer concerts. As always the events will take place in the beautiful setting of Riverside Gardens, Hook Road.
Each concert will run from 2pm to 4pm and all are absolutely free.
This Sunday, August 3 - The Pierrotters Since 1983 The Pierrotters have provided riotous family entertainment to audiences up and down Britain's balmy coast. Meet Uncle Tacko, Boy Gacko, Shabby Shabacko, McFacko and Smiley Smacko, the wonderfully madcapped crooners who bring their unique mixture of a capella songs, sweet ballads, musical hall routines and rock 'n' roll to this year's fun and sun seekers.
There will be a chance for the younger audience members to get creative with some arts activities - making a hat or simply drawing a picture. Materials are provided and participants can take away their work at the end of the afternoon.
Sunday, August 10 - The Hatfield Band - Stirring brass band music will drift across the lawns as Goole hosts a UK Championship brass band, based in the South Yorkshire town of Hatfield. At the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, the Band competed in the Senior Trophy against 17 other bands and after working very hard rehearsing paid off by winning the trophy. This promotes them to play in the Senior Cup in 2009.
One not to miss: Sunday, August 17 - The Frickley South Elmsall Band - Formed in 1969 as the learner band to Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band, the aim was to train and supply future players for the championship band. Having obtained an old set of instruments through the CISWO organisation for miners, the first competition was entered in 1970 and they haven't looked back since. With new learner players joining all the time and help from many sources with the cost of instruments, the band has gone from strength to strength.
Why not make a date in your diary and come along, bring a picnic and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of entertainment absolutely free! - and trust the weather holds.
