Stars are on show at New Theatre

Published on 12th June 2008 in Ents

A bevy of stars from stage and screen will take part in a comedy play tailor-made for women.

The Naked Truth, about five women struggling to conquer pole-dancing for a charity event, is written by Girls Night Out creator David Simpson and comes to Hull New Theatre for a week-long run at the end of June. Set in a pole dancing-class, The Naked Truth is a brilliantly-funny play about sisterhood.

The stellar cast includes Lisa Riley, of Emmerdale and Fat Friends fame; Julie Buckfield, who starred in Grange Hill and Holloyoaks; Gemma Wardle from Family Affairs and Life on Mars; Samantha Seager, who was in Coronation Street; Jayne Tunnicliffe, who also starred in the ITV soap; and Lucy Rusedski.

The play follows the lives of five very different women who struggle hilariously to conquer pole-dancing for a charity event to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. As their stories unfold, they share laughter and tears in this funny but moving play.

The Naked Truth is a poignant and uplifting comedy, a call to all women and a celebration of strength through adversity. It's a show for women, about women, that men absolutely must see (if they dare!).

The play will be shown nightly from Monday, June 30 to Saturday, July 5, starting at 7.30pm.On the Thursday and Saturday there will also be shows at 2.30pm.

Tickets for The Naked Truth cost £8.50 to £18.50 each and can be bought from the Hull City Council Booking Office under Hull City Hall on Carr Lane. Alternatively, visit: www.hullcc.gov.uk or call the Booking and Information on: 01482 226655. The Naked Truth cast in action. (12-06-78 SU)
