Still has the style

Published on 22nd May 2008 in Ents

With thanks to Mr G. Ward from Selby, who recently attened the Paul Weller concert at the Doncaster Dome.

When the 'Modfather' released his latest tour dates, this venue (along with others!) sold out within a matter of days.

A crowd of 2,000 inside a stifling hot hall, was held transfixed by Weller's every move. Using material from his soon to be released album (22 Dreams) Weller mixed new with old material. 'Porcelain God' clearly showing the style icon loved his craft. Changing guitar on a least 6 occasions, the crowd witnessed all styles of fine guitar play.

When Weller can do an acoustic mix of his back catalogue including the superb 'Broken Stones' what a joy he is to watch.

With little time for idle chit-chat between songs, it seems apparent he is there for song playing at its finest. Accusing the crowd of being 'quiet' it wasn't until 'Eton Rifles' that the large crowd came to true life, a truly fine song from the halcyon days of The Jam.

Weller throughout the years has proved difficult with the music press and band members alike, but it's his large fan base that he aims to please. He did.

As he once said: "That's Entertainment!"
