Non-stop puppet show for The Gate
A captivating adaptation of Jean Giono's environmental classic The Man Who Planted Trees will be staged at The Gate Theatre on Saturday.
The show, performed by Richard Medrington - who has appeared at The Gate with his Winnie the Pooh shows - and Rick Conte, this show has been touring non-stop to festivals and theatres across the UK and abroad.
A French shepherd sets out with his dog to plant a forest and transform a barren wasteland. As war rages across Europe, their young forest comes under threat… A unique blend of comedy, puppetry and storytelling, with sensory effects creating scents, wind and rain.
An inspiring and unforgettable story that shows us the difference one man (and his dog!) can make to the world. We asked Richard about the show and he had this to say: "Something in this show seems to have struck a chord with audiences.
Perhaps it's the timeliness of the environmental message - or the fact that people just love the simplicity of a good story that's well told. After a Saturday morning show, a boy told us that was the sixth time he'd seen the show - and he was planning to see it a seventh time during the Fringe!
Another boy came with his mum to see us. She had asked him what he'd like to do as a treat for the last day of the summer holidays. His reply: "I want to see The Man Who Planted Trees - again".
Suitable for adults and children aged 7+, though most five and six year olds will love it, too.
All tickets £3.50 from Goole Town Council, Gladstone Terrace or on the door. For more information about this or any other shows on at The Gate why not visit our web site www.thegategoole.com.
