Howden Live

A singer-songwriter who sold 12,000 albums from the back of his car comes to Howden next weekend.
Derrin Nauendorf, who combines roots, blues, folk and Americana, will be at the Shire Hall to perform what Howden Live organisers are calling a 'must-see gig'
In the past five years, Derrin has played close to 1,000 shows around the globe. Renowned for his intense live shows and raw emotive music, he has been invited to play in hundreds of towns and venues, has played dozens of festivals and is now a main stage act at these events. All this has been done simply by word of mouth. No management, no publicity, nothing. Just an intense spirit for the music he plays and the people he plays for.
However, things are changing: an album, The Rattling Wheel, has just been released, the first to be available to the general public.
A spokesperson said: "His music is very hard to categorise. Untamed acoustic guitar, cutting lyrics and a powerful, evocative voice that sounds lived-in. It is made up of many roots styles, blues, folk, Americana but is also none of these. Honest songs, delivered with raw passion, but twisted to sound unique so it can only sound like him.
"In the world of manufactured artists and music business people, Derrin is one of those artists who keep your faith in music alive. Music played by humans not computers, played with passion and spirit whilst tirelessly taking it on the road to people all over the world."
He will be supported by Val Marshall, who started songwriting and playing at open mic events and festivals in Hull, and now has her own CD.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, and close at 8.15pm.
Tickets for the gig, on Saturday March 1, are £10, available from Touchwood Homecare, 2 Market Place, Howden, on 01430 431535 and DT's Rockshop, 59 Pasture Road, Goole, on 01405 767282. Tickets can also be bought online, through, www.digyorkshire.com
