Rock stars

Published on 31st January 2008 in Ents

Popular Howden band The Element are currently preparing themselves for their first headlining tour, which could see them propelled into rock stardom.

The Freshmans Tour will begin on February 9 at The Chapel in Huddersfield and will go on to tour Yorkshire, including February 10 at Joseph's Well in Leeds, February 13 at Junction in York, February 14 at Rio's in Leeds along with Tonight is Goodbye, February 16 at Vintage Rock Bar in Doncaster and February 18 at Lamp in Hull along with Civilised.

Having already accrued hundreds of thousands of plays on their myspace site through constant gigging and radio play, the band feel it is their year to shine. Competition is tough but with their new EP they might just have that something - or so their masses of fans across the country believe. The five track EP Forest of Strangers, consists of mainly new material to mix in with the new side to the band, songs taken from lots of different influences. This band is for listeners of Fall Out Boy, Boys like Girls-esque style of music. The band are now looking forward to the tour and the inevitable hype of the new EP.

Who knows what these local budding rockstars, who are just 16 and 17 years of age, might be up to next? With a debut EP out, a TV appearance under their belt and sucess at local gigs, anything could happen.

Frontman/guitarist, Tom Kershaw told the Goole Times: "We are stoked for the tour, and just can't wait for the gig in Leeds with our friends Tonight is Goodbye. We love them and we're hoping the gig at Rio's in Leeds is our best yet. Hopefully in a few months time we'll be able to break out of Yorkshire and tour this summer up and down the country, possibly stopping off at some festivals on the way! Thanks for all the comments/messages on myspace."
