Region's finest to play Selby
Selby Town Hall's popular series of shows for under 20s kicks off in 2008 with four of North Yorkshire's finest young bands as the 6KVision tour rolls into town.
The show, organised by Selby Town Council and North Yorkshire County Council's Connecting Youth Culture, is part of a countywide tour across January and February to give young bands the opportunity to perform in front of new audiences outside their home towns, as the "underage" format pioneered in Selby rolls out around the region.
The Selby leg will feature popular hometown stars Kasima and the welcome return of crowd favourites Manticor, (pictured) alongside Knaresborough based rockers Samsura and rising Northallerton metal outfit Isotopia.
As with all town hall shows, the event takes place in a safe, alcohol-free environment staffed by qualified youth workers and security guards, with tickets set at just £2, so ensuring nobody is priced out.
Chris Jones, Town Council arts officer, said: "A tour giving young bands the opportunity to play to great audiences all around the county is such a fantastic idea.
"One of the hardest moves for aspiring young bands is taking that first tentative step outside the comfort zone of your home town and convincing promoters to give you a break.
"Hopefully for these four North Yorkshire bands, this will be the start of four very successful careers!"
Tickets for the Friday, January 18 show are available in advance from Selby Town Council and www.townhallgigs.co.uk, or on the door on the night priced at just £2.
Doors open at 7.15pm and the first band hits the stage at 8pm.
Entry is strictly for under 20s only.
