Panto magic

Published on 28th December 2007 in Ents

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a pantomime. This year, eight-year-old Charlie Dunkerley reviews Jack and the Beanstalk.

On Tuesday night I went to the Hull New Theatre to see the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

It was very funny and it starred Bobby Ball and Tommy Cannon.

If you are a fan of the BBC series Neighbours then you will also enjoy seeing Dan O'Connor play Jack.

The plot is based on the original story but has Cannon and Ball providing most of the laughs. All the kids had to shout "Rock on, Tommy" when they came on stage.

I also really laughed when Bobby came in to the audience and hit a lady in front of me with a bag and said: "Shut it, Missus!".

It was also funny when Bobby smashed a load of plates and kept crying and saying "Look at it...".

There was also a big giant, which Jack had to fight to win the love of the beautiful Princess who was played by Lucinda Gill.

Luke Baxter as Fleshcreep was brilliant and very scary while a fat bloke called Nick Wilton played Dame Trot. He was funny as well.

My dad thought the good-looking blonde fairy was really good and kept saying that he would like her telephone number.

The pantomime was fantastic and the songs and the scenery were really mint. I would like to see it all again and would urge any kids thinking of going to push their mum and dad to take them to see a magical and very funny show. - CD

Jack and the Beanstalk, at Hull New Theatre, runs until January 12. Tickets are available by calling 01482 226655 or via www.hullcc.gov.uk
