Half-price Goole gig
Published on 11th October 2007 in Ents
Christmas has come early for fans of Goole's monthly band night.
Organisers of Worse for Wear, which takes place at The Vikings on the first Thursday of each month, are offering half-price tickets for the final gig of the year.
Mark Hewson, of hhh Records, said: "As a thank you to all he people who have supported us by attending Worse for Wear each month, advance tickets are going to be available for a special price of £3.00."
On the door tickets for November 1 will be £5. They are usually £5 in advance or £6 on the door.
As usual, tickets will be available from the Goole Times office at 102 Boothferry Road, The Vikings, or by calling 07809 202964. The line-up for November 1 will feature The Drain Pipes, The Neat and The Beaus.
Headliners The Drain Pipes are an energetic indie/punk band from Manchester, whose name comes from the band's ever-tight performances. The band formed in November, 2005 and in their first year twice appeared in the NME's new band section. They also played 33 gigs up and down the UK, including a festival slot at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, and support slots with Les Incompetents, The Holloways, The Pigeon Detectives and Our Fold, to name but a few.
This year started well, as the band were chosen to represent Manchester in the North West leg of the Transit Tour, asked to support punk legends Angelic Upstarts and The Vibrators as part of the 2007 Punk Feast Tour and selected to play at the Beached Festival 2007 in Scarborough along with The Paddingtons and Nine Black Alps.
After gigs aplenty, and a few member changes along the way, the five-piece have found their form. With new songs written weekly, the band are drawing crowds of people keen to see what the fuss is about and these people are not going home disappointed.
Following hot on the heels of Worse for Wear 5 will be No More Heroes, a live music event at the Goods Office on November 9.
Local favourites Kansas City Royles will open the night, as support to an out-of-town band to be confirmed.
