Youth band night bounces back

Electro indie darlings To My Boy warm up for their first national headlining tour as Selby Town Hall's under 20s gigs return for the new season.
The first in a series of gigs for local youngsters takes place on Friday, September 14, with support from fast-rising local stars The Element.
The under 20s events have seen chart stars The Pigeon Detectives headline and one of the most talked about new bands of 2007, The Wombats, are set to hit the big time by the end of the year.
Rave reviews from all corners of the music press and broadsheets for their debut album, 'Messages', were followed by a sell out national tour with Kate Nash as their unique bleeps and beats wowed crowds across the UK.
To My Boy are destined to follow in both bands footsteps, having already gained the kind of media adoration that most groups twice the size would sell their grandmothers for.
Chris Jones, town council arts officer, said: "To My Boy are the sound of the future.
"With a ridiculously catchy sound that fuses Kraftwerk, The Beach Boys and Sonic The Hedgehog, their day-glo assault on the music world has been incredibly well received - expect to see them creeping up the charts later in the year.
"These shows are a great way to see some of 2008's biggest names up close and personal - make sure you are able to say that you saw the next Pigeon Detectives here in Selby."
The shows are funded by Selby Town Council and North Yorkshire County Council CYC, and provide young people in Selby with an opportunity to enjoy some of the countries top up and coming bands in a safe, alcohol free environment at an affordable price.
The gigs are staffed by youth workers and professional security guards.
Tickets cost just £2 and are available in advance from Selby Town Council or on the door.
