Wilde thing!

Published on 19th July 2007 in Ents

The crowd went wild when a rather unlikely boy band pulled up at Hull Truck Theatre recently for a storming 'gig' with a difference.

Wilde Boyz, directed by acclaimed artistic director John Godber and penned by Gordon Steel, promised to be a fantastic romp of a comedy about how the lives of Wilde brothers Harry (James Hornsby), Billy (Robert Hudson) and Cloughie (Graham Martin) change once they hit the big time as a middle-aged boy band. And the eye-opening play certainly delivered on all its promises!

The audience is taken through a rollercoaster of emotions as we watch the mayhem kick off when Harry's wife Janice (Julie Higginson) has her head turned by TV talent show finalist Bobby Diamond (Graham Martin), leaving Harry determined to make it in the big time with his two brothers.

The new found ambition of the unlikely bunch of lads pays off but their fame comes at a cost, causing a number of plot twists and turns that are set to leave you laughing and welling up in turn.

The play is a sure-fire hit for men and women alike, but ladies beware! You enter the theatre at your own risk!

Wilde Boyz is showing at Hull Truck Theatre now, and runs until July 28. Ticket prices range from £6 to £15.50, and can be booked by calling the theatre's box office on 01482 323638. - JS
