For anyone bored with listening to the newly re-formed Take That, Hull Truck has the answer.

Wilde Boyz is both the name of a play and the band formed by its male stars, Harry, Cloughie and Billy Wild.

Not only can they sing, they will also make you laugh.

In the Truck's new play, the brothers swap the sofa for the stage after Harry's wife, Janice, is attracted to fireman-turned-celebrity, Bobby Diamond.

Wilde Boyz the play is a humorous look at family and fame and the effect each has on the other.

Julie Higginson, who plays Janice, said: "There's a lot of themes in the play.

In need of a change

"Janice is a character under a lot of stress.

"When we see her at the beginning of the play, she's not happy. She wants to sing a new song.

"She's attracted to Bobby Diamond because he's fun and glamorous.

"She's had a relationship with him in the past and then she meets him again by chance.

"Bobby wanders into her life and he turns her head."

Julie, who viewers might recognise from Emmerdale as the old Jean Hope, said: "I wouldn't say Janice is a fun character to play but I like her complexity. She's a woman in turmoil.

"I would hope people can empathise with her - but I'm not quite sure where the sympathy will lie."

Wilde Boyz, which is written by Gordon Steel and directed by John Godber, comes to Hull Truck Theatre on July 5 and will run until July 28.
