Sully is back in Hull!
If you missed out on the critically-acclaimed production of 'Sully' at Hull Truck Theatre last year then fear not, as next month provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate the life of Hull sporting hero Clive Sullivan all over again.
Following its enormous sell-out success last year, Hull Truck's joint artistic director Gareth Tudor Price is bringing back the poignant tale of Rugby League hero Clive Sullivan for a second outing next month.
Sully, which is written by Dave Windass and co-directed by Martin Barrass, celebrates the life of the man who united fans across Hull and stood tall in the Rugby League world as the last British captain to lift the Rugby League World Cup.
But there was one battle he couldn't win, the fight against cancer.
Through amazing performances from a three-strong cast, made up of Fidel Nanton, Lee Green and Amy Thompson, the play charts Clive's life and highlights his most glorious and challenging times, not only as a Rugby League legend, but as a loving family man.
Actor Lee Green told this newspaper why he is looking forward to treading the boards once again when Sully returns to Hull Truck Theatre next month.
Back by popluar demand
"Sully is back by popular demand because it was such a success last year, with people coming from Rugby League towns around the country to see it," he said.
"It is a story about life and will be pretty much the same as last time around, except with the addition of actress Amy Thompson."
Lee plays a host of different characters throughout the production but told us that he has particularly enjoyed reprising taxi driver Max, a poignant character which we meet early on in the play.
"I enjoy playing Max because he's a lot like me," laughs Lee.
"He's from Hull, like me, he's in his mid-thirties and fairly grumpy and opinionated, but most importantly of all, he's a Hull FC fan!"
Sully runs at the Hull Truck Theatre from Thursday, May 10 until Saturday, May 26, but tickets are already selling rapidly for this breath-taking production which is not to be missed.
