Singer John Parr to perform in Rawcliffe
A singer who two months ago appeared with Roger Daltrey and Yoko Ono in front of 20,000 fans at Madison Square Gardens will be at Rawcliffe Village Hall next month as part of a tour to support local communities.
John Parr, whose eighties hit St Elmo's Fire won acclaim on both side of the Atlantic, is taking action to revive village facilities in the area, which he fears are in danger of closing.
" 'The Pretty Village Tour' is his small way of breathing a bit of life back into these great little places by bringing some live entertainment mixed with a few stories, laughs and experiences," said Gary Brown, of Rawcliffe Post Office.
"I think it will be a rare opportunity to see a real world rock star close-up. How many massive stars of John Parr's standing would support the local community like this?"
At well as his New York concert, he has also performed with Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and Meat Loaf and has written scores for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Demi Moore.
His latest project is a film score for A Road to Damascus, by Academy award -winner Chris Munro.
John Parr will be at the hall on Saturday March 17.
Tickets are a snitch at £10 and can only be bought from Rawcliffe Post Office/Village News.
There is no bar but guests are welcome to bring a bottle. For more information, contact Gary Brown on 01405 839361
