New season shows launched at The Gate
Published on 28th December 2006 in Ents
With Christmas quick becoming a distant memory and the celebrations of New Year only days away, why not start planning for the spring with a look at what's on at Goole's premier theatre, The Gate.
With three months packed with entertainment for every one from two years to 102, there's bound to be something to suit everybody.
The first gig on Saturday, January 13, 8pm, is the ACOUSTIC STRAWBS, a true headline act to start our season off. Thirty years on from their huge album chart success, Grave New World and Bursting at The Seams, the Strawbs now tour with an acoustic line-up of Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert and 70s band member Chas Cronk.
Shows for all the family
For their family audiences they are delighted to welcome back the PIERROTTERS on Saturday, January 20, at 2pm - the last remaining seaside Pierrot troupe in Britain. Their show coincides with their We do like to be beside the Seaside exhibition about Britain's Pierrot Troupes at Goole Museum (on now and until January 20).
Other gigs for music lovers include Pete Smith, Jez Lowe and a new young, hip and bold five-piece band, Empirical, who are devoted to maintaining the roots of traditional modern jazz with a finger on the pulse of the contemporary world.
With half-term looming, why not book your 6+s onto the shadow puppet workshop, then come along as a family to Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre's afternoon show: Red Riding Hood's Magic Purse. Other family shows include Presto Puppets and the ever-popular Blue Sky Theatre, with a sing-along, bounce-along, clap-along musical storytelling show for 2 - 5 year olds: One, Two Zebra Zoo.
