College students' seaside exhibition

Published on 14th December 2006 in Ents

A group of Goole College students has combined with Promenade Promotions to celebrate the heritage of entertainers who worked along Yorkshire's coastal resorts in a new exhibition now on at Goole Museum.

The Heritage Lottery-funded project 'We Do Like to be Beside the Seaside' records the disappearing traditions of pierrot troupes and concert parties that were once a familiar sight at holiday resorts.

The touring exhibition has been organised by Promenade Promotions director Tony Lidington, the country's leading authority on seaside pierrot troupes and founder of the last remaining troupe in the country. This group, The Pierrotters will be giving a brief performance on the exhibition at Goole Museum on Saturday, January 20 at 11am and then a family performance at Goole Gate Theatre at 2pm.

Admission to the exhibition, which runs until January 20, is free. It will run on Mondays from 2pm to 5pm, Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays between 9am and 1pm.(14-12-07 GT)
